The game G.Kacheishvili – K.Sakaev attracted the spectators’ attention in round 4 of the male championship. Everybody knows that Konstantin Sakaev plays in the classical manner of the previous century – he is a wild beast when playing with white pieces, while he is always ready to accept draw when playing with black ones against any competent grandmaster. In this tournament, it took him 15 moves to draw the game with black pieces against L.-D. Nisipeanu and 12 moves to do so against S. Movsesian.
Sakaev would gladly agree for the draw in his game against Kacheishvili but his opponent was not pleased with such an outcome. Sakaev tried to repeat the moves for one time, but Kacheishvili avoided it and persisted when the second opportunity happened. So Sakaev had to fight it seriously. His opponent won the exchange but Sakaev played chess just better. Generally it was a usual game, but what did arise such an interest for it? The case was that it happened to be the only victory on the leading 10 boards.
