GM
Alexei Dreev:
"The
Russia club championship has been held in Toliatti this year.
Nikel team obtained the second place though they ought to win
the competition. The task appeared not especially difficult
for Nikel – we had either to draw matches in two final rounds,
or to win one of them at least. Pitifully, the luck turned away
from them finally.

Rustem Kasimdzhanov:
"All participants of the Saraevo 33th tournament are members
of the famous Bosna team, or at least they were its members
in the recent past. The climate was friendly at the tournament
which resembled a training exercise despite its XVIth category.
|
Public
displayed quite a high interest in the event. Though there were
not many spectators in the playing hall, the competition obtained
its coverage on TV every night. When the game of Rustem Kasymdzhanov
with Ivan Sokolov in the last round ended with draw which meant
Sokolov becoming the winner of the tournament, it was greeted
by sheer ovation of fans. Sokolov remains a national hero for
the majority of Bosnians though there are few of them displeased
by his changing a citizenship to the Dutch.
The winner demonstrated a smooth performance admitting no severe
mistakes and no time troubles, unlike everyone else in the tournament.
He enjoyed a good deal of luck in the following game."
