Lausanne (SWI), "Lausanne Young Masters",
17-22.09.2003

The idea of organizing a tournament of the world's strongest junior players was realized for the first time in 1999. Eight players aged below 20 gathered in Lausanne to take part in a knock-out competition. They played matches of two games, followed by rapid games and blitz. Since then, the tournament became a traditional event and obtained a title Lausanne Young Masters.

Lausanne

Yongchuan (China)
Many chess amateurs know about the so-called 'alternative chess'; many of them played it. The essence of this game is that each side consists of two (sometimes, three) players, who make moves one after another – provided it is their turn to move. Players within one side cannot consult each other. One of the attractive features of this game is that it eliminates the difference in class between players.
Co-ordination of players within one team is far more important.

"Manual of Chess Endings", GM Sarhan Guliev

The novelty of the present book is that it only examines exact position. Such positions form the skeleton of all works on the endgame already published, but not one of these authors is able to resist the temptation to proceed further, from the simple to the complicated. And they deal with problematic positions, where what is required of a player is not only exact knowledge, but also stamina, fighting, spirit, will–to–win and so on.
Thus you have here a collection of the 600 most standart (exact) endgame positions.
