Chess Weekly #6
| Bundesliga
2002/2003 (Germany)
The season in Bundesliga continued from October 18th
to March 30th. ‘Luebeck’ became the champion
again, which may rather be called the world’s team. Fourteen
grandmasters from eight countries represent the club, including
Adams, Grischuk, Shirov and Lautier. Strange, but there is not a
single German grandmaster in the team!
‘Lubeck’s’ main competitor, ‘Koln-Porz’
also failed to recruit the compatriots, featuring only Cristopher
Lutz and Alexander Graf. Despite a prolonged competition, the plot
was rather simple there: both leaders won their nine matches, then
met in round 10, when ‘Luebeck’ prevailed with the score
5:3. more
